Wartime existence has a different meaning; everything that once was normal disappears. The daily routine is certainly not normal, even if it seems normal to people who live in the respective places. Bombs fall, people die and buildings are destroyed every day. There are civilians caught in the middle, vsuffering silently from the effects of this horrible war, but doing their best to resist its bitterness. The reality of war cannot be denied, and yet there are people who are persistently trying to face the bitterness of this terrible war: with their determination, their hope, and their desire to live. Covering an entire decade in various Syrian regions, this project illustrates the struggle of civilians and children to overcome the war, including the besieged area in Eastern Ghouta near the capital of Damascus, Syria, which has been under siege by the Syrian government forces for more than 9 years. The siege ended after the residents were forcibly resettled in displacement camps.
