New Delhi, India’s capital, saw its health infrastructure crumble under pressure from a sudden tsunami of COVID patients. From hospital beds to oxygen supplies and essential medicines, April was a month of horror for the population of the Indian capital. Almost everybody sought to obtain one thing – a hospital bed for their loved ones. People used to leave bodies outside crematorium, it was mayhem everywhere. Bodies wrapped in white were being carried in or wheeled in. Ambulance sirens wailed all day long. Day in and day out the only site was that of burning pyres.
