Polar bears are excellent swimmers who can cover more than 100 kilometers. However, these mighty predators cannot always resist the elements. Autumn 2021 was marked by a slew of powerful storms in the Chukchi Sea. After one such storm, residents of the Chukchi village of Enurmino discovered the corpse of a polar bear, an extremely rare occurance even for these northern whereabouts.
