Mladen Antonov
Chief photographer for South East Asia, Agence France-Presse (AFP)
Mladen Antonov was born in Sofia, Bulgaria in 1964. He majored in cinema at the Film and Theatre Academy in Sofia. Currently, he is Agence France-Presse’s (AFP) chief photographer for South-East Asia based in Bangkok, Thailand.
Until 2003, Antonov had worked for the European Pressphoto Agency (EPA) as a correspondent based in Bulgaria, covering the wars in the former Yugoslavia and all the major news and sporting events in Europe. At AFP, he became the leading photographer for Eastern Europe and the CIS in 2003, and in 2006, the Agency's Global Chief Photo Editor based in Paris. Since 2011, he has been the Photo Director for North America, based in Washington DC, and later a special correspondent for the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia.
