Deadline for submitting entries for News Photo Awards. A Changing World contest extended until January 7

The deadline for submitting entries for the News Photo Awards. A Changing World photo contest has been extended for two more weeks, until January 7, 2022. The contest’s organizers made this decision in order to allow as many professional photojournalists as possible to join the event. Originally, the deadline for accepting the entries was set to expire on December 24.

“As of now, photojournalists from more than 50 countries worldwide have already submitted their entries for the News Photo Awards. A Changing World contest, and the number of images is growing every day. Simultaneously, we are receiving many requests from media representatives to move the deadline up for submitting entries. It’s important for us that as many worthy photojournalists as possible take part in the contest and all of them have time to send their entries and vie for valuable prizes. So, we have made a decision to extend the deadline for submitting entries until January 7, 2022,” said Grigory Dukor, the jury’s chair, who heads the TASS Russian News Agency’s Photo and Video Service.

This year, there are four categories at the News Photo Awards. A Changing World: News, People & Lifestyle, Healthcare and Environment. For each above-mentioned category, two winners will be selected for the Best Single Photo and Best Photo Series. The winners will each get a $3,000 award. The best picture out of all those sent in will be awarded the Grand Prize. The creator of this masterpiece will take home $10,000.

The winners will be selected by the jury consisting of 12 experts, who enjoy well-deserved recognition in the photojournalism field and represent the world’s major media outlets, like AFP, DPA, Xinhua, Kyodo, EFE, Yonhap, TASS among others. The vote for the best images will be held online along the contest’s official website.

Joining the contest is free of charge. Any press photographer who works or cooperates with mass media can submit their entries. The winners will be announced at the Expo 2020 Dubai in March 2022.

Mastercard, the multinational financial services corporation, is the General Partner of this year’s competition. The organization will select a photograph for its Special Award from the People and Lifestyle category.
