Thailand's Pro Democracy Protests

Over the course of 2020 and 2021, a student-led protest movement had taken hold of Thailand. Regular demonstrations saw tens of thousands of people take to the streets to make three key demands: the resignation of former junta leader Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha; a new constitution and, most controversially, reforms to the powerful and once-untouchable monarchy of King Maha Vajiralongkorn. The protests regularly ended in clashes with police using rubber bullets, tear gas and chemical-laced water canon as protesters sought to break through their lines.
