Ludo Khayat, 41, is recovering from a COVID-19 infection which put him in a coma and on a ventilator for 24 days in the COVID-19 intensive care unit at the La Timone Hosptial in Marseille, Southern France. When he awoke Ludo was weak and a mere fragment of who he used to be before his infection. His childhood friend turned lifelong lover and wife, Amelie, began to visit him as he regained consciousness. Doctors at the la Timone hospital were stunned to see how fast Ludo's condition improved once he received his wife's regular visits. Now Ludo tests negative for the virus but has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of him before he can resume his normal life. This photograph was taken in the COVID-19 ward of the La Timone hospital's continued care section at the end of one of Amelie's visits. Their embrace lasted for minutes on end. When asked about his wife's visits, Ludo who is currently unable to speak, wrote on his white board "She brought me back to life".
