In the epicenter of COVID-19

In April-May 2020, New York City was the global epicenter of the coronavirus pandemic with up to 1,000 people dying per day. To date, over 24,000 individuals have now lost their lives to COVID-19 in the Big Apple. These images chronicle the daily battle against the pandemic throughout NYC: from medical workers loading refrigerated morgue trailers with bodies, to inside coronavirus hospital wards and funeral homes.
